# Event Tickets Extensions: Customize Tickets & RSVPs

With **Event Tickets**, you can easily create and sell tickets and RSVPs and collect attendee information such as names and email addresses.

For most event websites, these built-in features are enough to fulfil all the requirements.

However, if you want more customization such as adding custom fields to ticket forms, collecting additional attendee details, or displaying event cost information alongside tickets, the default plugin settings are not enough.

But you can extend the functionality of **Event Tickets** using the following extensions:

- **Additional Fields For Tickets:** Add **custom fields** to tickets and RSVPs to store additional information.

- **The Events Calendar Extension: Add Phone to Attendee Lists:** Collect and display attendee **phone numbers** in the attendee list.

- **Show Cost Field:** Restore The Events Calendar's **Event Cost** field when it is hidden because a ticketing plugin is active.

In this blog, we are going to discuss about these three extensions in detail.

## Additional Fields For Tickets

**Additional Fields For Tickets** is an extension for **Event Tickets** that lets you add custom fields to Tickets and RSVPs.

By default, ticket forms contain standard ticket fields. If you want to display additional information, such as a meeting link, room number, speaker details, or event instructions, you can create** custom fields** and add this information to your tickets using the **Additional Fields For Tickets** extension.

When used with **[Event Tickets Plus](https://www.liquidweb.com/software/the-events-calendar/event-tickets/)**, the extension lets you use **[tribe_tickets]** shortcodes to display specific information or data to users who have purchased a ticket, submitted an RSVP, or registered for the event.

**Important**: The extension is compatible with the classic WordPress editor only. The Block editor is not supported.

Now, follow the steps below to add and display custom information:

### Create Custom Fields

- Before getting started, make sure to install and activate the following plugins and extensions:

**[Event Tickets](https://en-ca.wordpress.org/plugins/event-tickets/)**

- **[Event Tickets Plus](https://www.liquidweb.com/software/the-events-calendar/event-tickets/)**

- **[Additional Fields for Tickets](https://github.com/mt-support/tribe-ext-tickets-additional-fields)**

- After activating the extension, an **Additional Fields** section is added to the ticket or RSVP box.

- The custom fields are not created directly from the WordPress editor. Instead, you need to register them using a **PHP code snippet **with the** tribe_ext_tickets_additional_fields** filter.

[![additional fields ](https://eventscalendaraddons.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/additional-fields-in-tickets-1023x944.jpg)](https://eventscalendaraddons.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/additional-fields-in-tickets.jpg)

Here is a code snippet.

<?php

add_filter( 'tribe_ext_tickets_additional_fields', 'custom_tickets_additional_fields' );

function custom_tickets_additional_fields( $ticket_fields ) {

$ticket_fields['custom_field'] = [
'type' => 'text',
'label' => esc_html__( 'Custom Label' ),
'description' => esc_html__( 'Insert the description here.' ),
];

return $ticket_fields;
}Copy
```
<?php
add_filter( 'tribe_ext_tickets_additional_fields', 'custom_tickets_additional_fields' );
function custom_tickets_additional_fields( $ticket_fields ) {
$ticket_fields['custom_field'] = [
'type' => 'text',
'label' => esc_html__( 'Custom Label' ),
'description' => esc_html__( 'Insert the description here.' ),
];
return $ticket_fields;
}
```
PHP

This snippet creates a custom field for your tickets. You can change the **field type**, **label**, and **description** according to your requirements.

The extension supports the following field types:

- **Text**

- **URL**

- **Email**

- **Textarea**

- **Number**

- **Checkbox**

After creating a custom field, you can enter its value when editing a ticket or RSVP.

### Display the custom field.

After adding information to your custom fields, you can display the field values on your website using a **template tag** or **shortcode**.

- **Template tag:** If you want to display the custom field value in PHP, use the following function: **tribe_ext_tickets_additional_fields_get_meta( 123, 'zoom_link' )**; Replace 123 with the **ticket ID** and zoom_link with the **ID of your custom field**.

This method is useful when you are working with theme templates or custom PHP code.

- **Shortcode:** You can also display a custom field value inside WordPress content using the following shortcode: **[tribe_tickets_additional_field ticket_id="123" field="zoom_link"]**

Replace the ticket ID and field ID with your own values.

**Note:** To use this shortcode, you also need to install and activate the **[Event Tickets Shortcodes](https://github.com/mt-support/tribe-ext-tickets-shortcodes)** extension.

- **Modify the Shortcode Output**: To modify the shortcode output, you can hook into the **tribe_tickets_additional_field_shortcode_html** filter, which has the parameters **$html**,** $ticket_id**, and **$field**.

add_filter( 'tribe_tickets_additional_field_shortcode_html', 'my_custom_additional_field_shortcode_printing', 10, 3 );

function my_custom_additional_field_shortcode_printing( $html, $ticket_id, $field ) {

if ( 'zoom_link' === $field ) {
$html = 'I do not want to print any zoom link!';
}

if ( 123 === $ticket_id ) {
$html = 'I do not want to print any field for the ticket 123';
}

return $html;
}
Copy
```
add_filter( 'tribe_tickets_additional_field_shortcode_html', 'my_custom_additional_field_shortcode_printing', 10, 3 );
function my_custom_additional_field_shortcode_printing( $html, $ticket_id, $field ) {
if ( 'zoom_link' === $field ) {
$html = 'I do not want to print any zoom link!';
}
if ( 123 === $ticket_id ) {
$html = 'I do not want to print any field for the ticket 123';
}
return $html;
}
```
PHP

## Include Attendee Phone Number in the Event Attendee Report

**[The Events Calendar Extension: Add Phone to Attendee Lists](https://web.archive.org/web/20221204174058/https://theeventscalendar.com/extensions/include-attendee-phone-number-in-the-event-attendee-report/)** lets you display attendee **phone numbers** in the attendee list.

By default, the attendee list includes basic information such as the attendee's name and email address. This extension adds the attendee's phone number to that list.

For example, if you are organizing an in-person event and need to contact attendees by phone, you can access their phone numbers directly from the attendee list instead of checking individual orders.

The extension works with your ticketing or payment provider. For example, if you use **WooCommerce** as your ticket provider, the extension can display the phone number collected during checkout in the attendee list.

To display the attendee phone number in the Attendees List, you need to install and activate the following plugins and extension:

- [**The Events Calendar**](https://wordpress.org/plugins/the-events-calendar/)

- [**Event Tickets**](https://wordpress.org/plugins/event-tickets/)

- [**Event Tickets Plus**](https://www.liquidweb.com/software/the-events-calendar/event-tickets/?utm_source=theeventscalendar&utm_medium=plugin&utm_campaign=etp-upsell&utm_content=et-settings-page&id=18th)

- A supported ticket commerce provider, such as **[WooCommerce](https://wordpress.org/plugins/woocommerce/) **

- [**The Event Calendar Extension: Add Phone to Attendee List**](https://github.com/mt-support/tribe-ext-add-phone-to-attendee-lists)

After activating the extension, it retrieves the phone number associated with the attendee's ticket purchase and displays it alongside the other attendee details.

## Show Cost Field

**[Show Cost Field](https://web.archive.org/web/20250723181520/https://theeventscalendar.com/extensions/show-cost-field/)** is a utility extension that restores **[The Events Calendar's](https://www.liquidweb.com/software/the-events-calendar/)** standard **Event Cost** field when a ticketing plugin hides it.

Normally, when **[Event Tickets](https://wordpress.org/plugins/event-tickets/)** or another supported ticketing solution is active, the **Event Cost** field is hidden from the event editor. This is because ticketing plugins provide pricing information through tickets.

However, you can still use the Event Cost field to display additional cost-related information for your event.

For example, you may want to display a general cost message such as:

**Cost:** Free for members, $20 for non-members.

In this case, you can use the **Show Cost Field** extension to restore the Event Cost field in the event editor.

Simply install and activate the[ **Show Cost Field**](https://github.com/mt-support/tribe-ext-show-cost-field) extension. The Event Cost field will then be available again when editing your event.
